Infant / Toddler Lab School

The Infant Toddler Lab school was created in March of 2005 and currently serves children age 6 months to 36 months of age. The hours of operation are 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 7:30 AM through 4:00 PM on Fridays. There are two classrooms in the Lab School.

The Infant room offers a warm and nurturing environment for infants 6 months to 17 months old. Much of the day for infants revolves around their individual schedules and curriculum is based on the current and emerging skills of the children in the classroom. Soft areas, gross motor areas, books, music and sensory activities are just some of the wonderful opportunities that are provided in this room. The adult child ratio is 1:3 in this classroom.

The Toddler room offers a variety of activities for 1 1/2- 3-year-olds as they make the transition from infants to active and independent children. This classroom follows a consistent daily routine and gives toddlers the opportunity to actively explore, experience, and interact with others. The schedule is designed to balance structure and free choice, active and quiet times. Through individual attention and respectful interactions, the teachers help the children learn about and deal with transitions, fostering autonomy in the children and assist children in understanding limits. There is an adult to child ratio of 1:4 in this classroom.

The infant and toddlers have an outdoor classroom that is used daily.  The outdoor equipment and activity spaces are appropriate to both infant and toddlers' developmental needs.  Many activities that are done indoors can also be done outdoors, and this provides the children with fresh air and a larger open area for play and vigorous physical activity. The infants and toddlers also go on daily walks around campus in buggies.
